WHO WE ARE
Our strength lies not only in the words we stand by, but most importantly in the actions of our initiatives. From the moment we started our work in 1985, as Fuzzie Rescues in Brooklyn and then LI NY, we understood that by working together we could overcome our challenges much more efficiently, and that is why we ultimately decided to launch Soulful Warrior Rescue & Training in Rochester NY. We moved to Macedon NY and created SWR Stay and Play to offer boarding and daycare in 2024.

In Brooklyn NY as a kid, we lived in an area where people dumped their dogs. Jo Cahill would earn their trust and train them & adopt them out at age 16. Her love of animals led her to pursuit a career as a Vet tech and Assistant. She volunteered at local animal shelters and worked with her family as a rescuer. She raised her family and her children also ran a Ferret & reptile rescue in LI NY for 6 yrs. She went to school to learn all aspects of training. She still to this day works with several other trainers, shelters and AC...
Chris Cahill rescued and rehomed cats thruout his life. This couple's love of animals brought them together to open Soulful Warrior Rescue & Training in Rochester NY.
We now have opened SWR Stay & Play an all in 1 Animal Facility.
Boarding, Training, Grooming, Gift Shop, Doggie Day Care and finally, a Private Dog Park (to be opened in the spring 2025), where you and your dog can be in its own place to run off leash, play and be safe.
We will have a pet pantry to help the community, adoption & fundraising events with other local rescues and shelters. We are looking forward to be part of educational programs.
We strongly believe that rescues should work together.
In the future we will offer low cost spay/neuter/vaccine clinics and grants. We have a heartworm grant called Mae's Mission. We are offering HW preventatives to low income pet owners.
We believe in giving back to the community. Our mission is simply to help dogs that need loving homes that fits their needs, rehabbing those that need it, train those needing training and seeking medical when needed.

HOW MUCH OF MY DONATION DIRECTLY SUPPORTS THE CAUSE?
100% OF EACH DONATION GOES TO THE ANIMALS, WHETHER IT BE FOR FOOD , SUPPLEMENTS, SUPPLIES, CLEANING PRODUCT
OR GAS FOR TRANSPORT, VETERINARY CARE... WE ARE 100% VOLUNTEER & FOSTER BASED!
WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AGE TO VOLUNTEER?
WE ACCEPT VOLUNTEERS FROM AGE 16 THRU 88
DO YOU TAKE IN DOGS ONLY?
We take dogs in currently and some cats. When we move into the building we will then have a reptile room, take in hedge hogs ginuea pigs etc
ARE YOU LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS?
We are always searching for volunteers to help with the rescue. From dog walking, play yard, daycare, kennel care and office help as well. Send us an email if you would like to help out.
